2012 Summer Hunt Camp

The Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center (BTYCC) is offering a summer day-camp program for youth ages ten to fifteen who are interested in hunting and other related outdoor activities.

During hunt camp, youth have the opportunity to earn their hunter safety certification and learn about Florida's great hunting heritage.  Wildlife identification, survival, wilderness first aid, treestand safety, conservation, stewardship, laws and ethics are just a few of the topics that are covered during hunt camp.  Hunt camp participants spend extensive time on the ranges learning gun safety, safe loading and unloading of firearms as well as shooting.  Shotguns, rifles and muzzleloaders are used during hunt camp.  Campers also learn how to use various game calls and get the opportunity to make their own game call.

Hunt Camp hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8 am to 2 pm on Friday. The first week of camp starts Monday, June 4 and the last week of camp starts Monday, June 25. Hunt Camp Fee: $175.

If you have any questions on the hunt camp, please call Kelly Langston at 850-688-7834 or you can e-mail her at kelly.langston@MyFWC.com.

2012 Summer Fish Camp

- FISH CAMP IS NOW FULL -

Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center offers a summer day-camp program for students age nine to fifteen that are interested in fishing.

During Fish Camp, youth learn valuable information regarding fish and their habitat, teaches various fishing techniques, and cultivates a new crop of responsible anglers.  All aspects of fishing are covered, ranging from fish identification and fish biology to boat navigation and angling techniques.  Campers leave Fish Camp with an appreciation for the sport of fishing, as well as the knowledge required for ethical angling.

Fish Camp also introduces participants to the field of fisheries biology.  Fisheries biologists visit to discuss methods and equipment used to perform project duties and to assist campers in conducting scientific procedures involving fish and fish habitat.

Fish Camp hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8 am to 2 pm on Friday. The first week of camp starts Monday, June 4 and the last week of camp starts Monday, June 25. Fish Camp Fee: $195.

Campers are provided with all gear necessary for fishing.  Each child is given his/her own rod and reel and tackle box full of tackle to be used during camp week.   At the close of Fish Camp, campers take their fishing equipment home to use for future fishing.  Our goal is to have each child leave camp equipped to fish, with both the knowledge and the gear.

If you have any questions on the fish camp, please call Kelly Langston at 850-688-7834 or you can e-mail her at kelly.langston@MyFWC.com.
