Summer Camps
Hello Campers and Parents!

Several exciting youth summer camp programs are available at the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center (BTYCC), a special place in northern Florida where kids can learn outdoor skills. BTYCC youth summer camp options, which include programs with focus on hunting, fishing, archery, and outdoor survival skills, are described below.
 
Registration for the 2017 summer camp at BTYCC begins Feb. 6. Space is limited, so make your reservation now for this exciting week of outdoor adventure. To register, please complete and mail the corresponding registration packet and fee.  Spots are not reserved until all forms are completed and the registration fee is paid.
 
The first week of summer camp starts Monday, June 5 and the last week begins Monday, July 17th. Camp hours are:

  • Monday through Thursday - 8 am to 5 pm,
  • Friday - 8 am to 2 pm

Freshwater Fish Camp

Requirements: Participants must have completed 3rd – 9th grade.
Cost: $195
Date(s): June 12th-16th, June 19th – 23rd, or June 26th – 30th

Campers will learn about fish identification, fish biology, and their habitats. Instructors will also cover fishing techniques including bait selection, knot tying, casting and boating safety.
 
During the week of camp, participants will receive all the gear necessary for fishing including a push-button rod and reel combo, tackle box and fishing tackle. Our goal is to equip each child with the knowledge and the gear to be safe and successful anglers. At the end of camp, youth are allowed to take their fishing equipment home to use on future outings.

Advanced Freshwater Fish Camp

Requirements: Participants must have completed 3rd – 9th grade and completed a previous Freshwater Fish Camp.
Cost: $195
Date(s): July 10th – 14th or July 17th – 21st

Advanced Fish Camp expands on the skills learned during a previously attended Fish Camp.  Campers will learn new techniques such as fly fishing and bowfishing, as well as receive a refresher course on boating safety, navigation, and safe fishing practices. They will also gain the knowledge and appreciation required for ethical angling.
 
Youth are provided new fishing gear to restock their tackle box and a spinning reel and rod combo.  At the end of the week of camp, campers can take their fishing equipment home to use for future outings.

Hunt Camp

Requirements: Participants must have completed 4th-9th grade.
Cost: $195.00
Date(s): June 5th – 9th, June 12th – 16th, or June 19th – 23rd

During the week of Hunt Camp, campers will learn about Florida’s hunting laws and regulations, wildlife identification, survival and wilderness first aid, tree stand safety and how to be safe, ethical, stewards of the land. Instructors will teach safe firearm handling and supervise youth during live fire exercises at the ranges. At the end of the week, campers have the opportunity to earn their hunter safety certificate.

Advanced Hunt Camp

Requirements: Participants must have completed 4th-9th grade and already completed Hunter Safety to register.
Cost: $195.00
Date(s): June 26th – 30th

At Advanced Hunt Camp, campers have a comprehensive hunter safety review and go more in depth into wildlife identification, track and behavior, wilderness survival and orienting. In addition, campers will spend time at different range building safe practices and marksmanship skills.

Archery Camp (New for 2017)

Requirements: Participants must have completed 4th – 9th grade.
Cost: $195
Date(s): June 5th – 9th

Campers will learn to shoot a variety of archery equipment, use proper shooting form, and try several disciplines of archery. Certified instructors will help coach campers throughout the week, to improve their form and improve their archery skills. Skills for target shooting, bowhunting, and Bowfishing will be covered throughout the week.
 
Campers will be provided with all gear necessary for camp. Previous experience is not required. For safety, campers will only be using equipment provided at camp.  Each child will be using several types of bows and archery accessories while at camp.  This gear will be inspected by certified staff each day to ensure safety.  Our goal is to have each child leave camp with the knowledge, confidence, and safety to continue their interest in the sport of archery.

Wilderness Survival Camp (New for 2017)

Requirements: Participants must have completed 6th-9th grade and have prior camping, hunting and fishing experience.
Cost: $195.00
Date(s): July 10th – 14th

During the week of Wilderness Survival Camp, campers will be taught the seven priorities of survival: positive mental attitude, wilderness first aid, shelter, fire, signaling, water and food. Through expert instruction, campers will be immersed in the art of survival. Some of the skills taught will be proper application of first aid on yourself or others, building a shelter out of natural supplies, starting a fire with limited resources and preparing water and food for consumption. The final day of camp will culminate with an overnight group “camp out”. Campers will leave with a first aid pack, camp shirt and skills for a lifetime.
